ADELTE wins contract for two HYDRA-model Seaport Passenger Boarding Bridges for the new Cruise Center Steinwerder, Hamburg
Cruise Gate Hamburg, a subsidiary of Hamburg Port Authority, has contracted ADELTE to design, manufacture and install two HYDRA-model Seaport Passenger Boarding Bridges for the new Cruise Center Steinwerder due to enter service mid 2015.

Unlike Hamburg’s existing cruise terminals in Altona and HafenCity, the new facility being built in in cooperation with Hamburg Airport will offer one building for arriving and one building for departing passengers, both connected to ADELTE’s new SPBBs providing a flexible and speedy embarking and disembarking operations for 8,000 cruise guests a day.

‘We are excited about the new cruise terminal as it will provide first-class service infrastructure for the increasing number of cruise guests. We expect this number will double in the next 15 years. The project is on schedule. ADELTE and all other project partners are doing a great job,’ says Iris Scheel, project manager Cruise Center Steinwerder.

The two custom-designed SPBBs will be equipped with an innovative feature: a docking ramp which will allow passenger embarkation and disembarkation to cruise ships’ doors below quay level.

It is the second time that ADELTE has supplied boarding bridges to the Port of Hamburg; the first SPBB was installed in 2011 at Cruise Center Altona.

With this new project ADELTE, will have six SPBBs operating in Germany at Kiel and Hamburg.
