Barcelona Port Authority chairman Sixte Cambra gathered the press on a windy 8th terrace at the Port's head office Friday morning to announce that this coming Sunday, May 18, will see 31,600 passengers visiting the city on seven cruise vessels - a one day record for 2014. Of these, five will be turnarounds, while the other two will be in transit.
Cambra told Seatrade Insider that the beneficial economic impact for Barcelona is estimated at 3.5m euros, not counting port charges and payments to local vessel suppliers and support facilities.
