Cahill successor should build on the brand, not change it, Donald says
'A number of internal candidates and some with external experience—a healthy number of diverse candidates' is how Carnival Corp. ceo Arnold Donald described the field of potential successors to Gerry Cahill.

For the next president and ceo of Carnival Cruise Lines, Donald is seeking candidates with what he called 'the basic stuff—a leader with high integrity,' adding: 'Specifically for the Carnival brand, we're looking to build on what we have, not fundamentally change it.'

Ideally, the next leader should be 'someone who resonates with the brand,' Donald said. If the ideal candidate doesn't exist, it should be someone with strong operations experience.

Cahill's replacement has 'big shoes to fill,' Donald said. 'He led the Carnival brand well ... I hate to see him go.'
