Cape Verde stepping up its cruise facilities and activity
Phase One of the Cape Verde Cruise Development plan has been completed with the delivery of a cruise market assessment to Enapor, Ports of Cape Verde.

The study was executed by B&A Europe (Bermello Ajamil and Partners Europe) and commissioned by the Dutch company Finance for Cruise Development which is working with Enapor, Port of Cape Verde to enhance the cruise reception facilities in Porto Grande, Mindelo in the island of São Vicente.

Additional activities and initiatives to develop the local cruise tourism infrastructure are also planned and the Cape Verde Ministry of Tourism is engaged in a promotional cruise business strategy at national level.

Cape Verde is strategically located in the Atlantic ocean between the Americas, Europe and West Africa providing 10 very different islands which can be featured in a varied mix of itineraries including: Transatlantic, Atlantic Islands, West Africa, World Cruises, Around Africa, Inter Islands and other combinations which feature the raw but charming islands.

Cruise volumes have been increasing significantly in the last years and from 80 calls and 38,180 cruise visitors in 2012 the islands are expecting 165 calls and 76,250 cruise visitors in 2014.

Cape Verde is also scheduled to join “Cruise in the Atlantic Islands”, a regional organization that promotes Madeira and the Canarias Islands. The official ceremony and signing of the agreement could take place as early as next week at Seatrade Med in Barcelona.

Port and Tourism professionals from the Cape Verde Islands will be represented at stand 600.
