Carnival has no plans to roll up other brands beyond Iberocruceros

Carnival has no plans to roll up other brands beyond Iberocruceros
With Spanish brand Iberocruceros being folded into Costa Cruises, are there plans to roll up any other Carnival Corp. & plc brands? CEO Arnold Donald was asked in Tuesday's earnings call.

No, he told analysts, adding that Carnival fields strong brands.

'Even the Ibero decision took some time but Costa is so strong in Spain,' Donald said, and the costs of maintaining separate brands didn't make sense.

Plus, he added, Iberocruceros is a small brand that is now down to two ships.

As earlier reported, Grand Celebration is scheduled to become Costa Celebration and Grand Holiday will leave the fleet later this year as part of Carnival's ongoing program of disposing of older tonnage.

The 46,000gt Grand Holiday was built in 1985 as Holiday for Carnival Cruise Lines.
