Celebrity launches family friendly shorex options
Celebrity Cruises announced a new programme of shore excursions, designed exclusively for teenage families. Each tour is shorter than standard excursion durations and targetted at 12-17 year olds.

The Family Tour Challenge programme of excursions covers a range of activities including a Spanish family flamenco dance-off in Barcelona, learning to sail and take part in a mini regatta in Bermuda or taking part in a gondoliering challenge through Venice.

Jo Rzymowska, managing director, Celebrity Cruises, UK and Ireland, explains: ‘Family holidays are made by ensuring that all of the activities and adventures work well for children as well as parents. The new programme has been developed to allow families to learn new skills, have fun together and embrace a little competitive spirit along the way.’

On the Family Flamenco Dance Off tour in Barcelona  participants learn the basic rhythmic moves, handclaps and stomps of the traditional dance with a 45 minute private lesson. Then take to the floor to perform with a live guitarist and vocalist and compete against friends and family members in a contest to decide the best dancer. Priced from $99 per person.

On the Venetian Gondoliering Challenge, priced at $96 per adult and $46 per child,  amilies will receive tuition in the age-old art of Gondoliering before heading to a waterway to test their skills and pilot their own gondola.

In the Island Rainforest Geocaching Adventure, Ketchikan (Alaska), families can experience a ‘geo-caching’ GPS treasure hunt in the remote surrounds of the Tongass National Forest. Priced at $129 per adult and $65 per child.
