Concordia captain's trial delayed by nationwide lawyers strike
As expected, the trial of Costa Concordia Capt. Francesco Schettino has been delayed by a nationwide strike of Italy's lawyers.

Schettino, who faces multiple charges of manslaughter as well as shipwreck and abandoning ship, arrived at the courtroom in Grosseto, Italy, on Tuesday, where the hearing was adjourned until July 17, according to the Associated Press.

Lawyers across Italy are striking to protest government reforms aimed at speeding up civil trials.

AP said the hearing for five other Costa Concordia defendants who successfully sought plea bargains is set for July 20 in Grosseto.

Thirty-two passengers and crew died after the ship grounded and capsized off Giglio in January 2012.
