Costa Cruises gears up for Diadema’s arrival
Costa Cruises is gearing up for the arrival of its new flagship Costa Diadema, due to be officially handed over at Fincantieri’s Marghera yard in Venice on Saturday.

Present at the event will be Costa ceo, Michael Thamm and Fincantieri’s ceo, Giuseppe Bono.

The vessel will sail from Marghera on October 30 for Trieste, from where her Vernissage Cruise will start on November 1.

The arrival in Trieste, on October 31 will be an occasion of celebration with a party organized on the ship and fireworks set to go off over the city in the evening.

The week long cruise will visit Dubrovnik, Corfù, Malta and Naples before reaching Genoa ahead of the vessel’s naming ceremony on November 7.

The celebrations for Costa Diadema will start at 5pm until late. The godmother is Carolina Miceli from Palermo who has been selected from among 700 travel agents worldwide.  A bottle of Ferrari Gran Cuvée Trentodoc spumante, with a label created specifically for the event, will be broken on the bow. The grand finale of the event will be a light show and fireworks illuminating the sky of Genoa.

Costa Diadema will leave on November 8 headed for Savona, the port where the inaugural cruise will start on the evening of the same day.

The first call at Savona of Costa Diadema will be also the official inauguration of the second terminal of the Palacrociere, built by Costa with a total investment of €9m.

After Savona, the arrival of the flagship will be celebrated also in Marseille (November 9), Barcelona (November 10), Palma de Mallorca (November 11), Naples (November 13)  and La Spezia (November 14): all ports featuring on Costa Diadema’s weekly itineraries  through to the end of summer 2015.
