An Italian travel agent from Palermo will serve as the godmother during Costa Diadema's christening ceremony Nov. 7 in Genoa.

Carolina Miceli of travel agency Tagliavia was selected from among more than 700 entrants from 50 countries. She was chosen for her positive attitude and passionate work as an ambassador for Costa to her clients.

The godmother and her 'maids of honor' will president at the christening in Costa Diadema's Emerald Theatre.

'I'm really thrilled and honored to have such an important role in this unique event,' Miceli said. 'During my job as travel agent I’ve always proposed Costa cruises as the best example of the Italian lifestyle.' Being selected godmother will inspire her to do even better, she added.

During the gala evening, the 'Madrina della Regina' will be seated close to Costa Diadema's captain. She will officially name the ship and cut the ribbon releasing a bottle to break on the bow. Miceli and her maids of honor will be seated at the central table during the gala dinner to follow.
