Administrator Reinhold Schmid-Sperber said he was optimistic following the first negotiations with potential investors. Alternatively, the ship and company could also be sold to a buyer he remarked.
The situation was explained to the ship’s crew at a meeting held onboard last weekend. Their wages have been secured by the German Federal Employment Agency until next January.
The ship is currently sailing its last itinerary prior to a long-scheduled drydocking and overhaul later this month.
MS Deutschland Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH is undergoing regular insolvency proceedings following the granting of an application submitted to the Eutin District Court.
Schmid-Sperber, Kiel-based attorney of the Reimer Rechtsanwälte law firm, has been appointed administrator while Wolfram Günther continues as managing director.
