Hapag Lloyd Cruises' Europa 2 first time call to Kiel
The Port of Kiel welcomed Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ Europa 2 for the first time Wednesday, greeting the ship with a tug escort and water fountains on arrival.

Robert Vollborn, first deputy chairman of the Kiel town council and Port of Kiel’s md, Dr Dirk Claus, presented the ship’s master with a traditional welcome plaque.

Claus expressed his delight about the maiden call: ‘The first visit of Europa 2 is something rather special. We are pleased to see Kiel included in Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ itinerary planning.’

Europa 2 used Kiel as a turnaround port for a short Baltic itinerary including calls at Bornholm as well as the German islands of Ruegen and Usedom. The ship is set to return to Kiel on June 15 from where it will host a live broadcast of TV soccer chat show ‘Doppelpass’ to be shown on the German Sport1 channel.
