Ljubo Jurisevic, managing director of Triton-Evac GmbH, takes over as md of Deerberg-Systems on April 1.
He will operate from Oldenburg and Hamburg, reporting to Evac Group’s ceo, Tomi Gardemeister. Jochen Deerberg, the founder, owner and ceo of Deerberg-Systems, is to become personal group advisor and will also be appointed to the Evac Group advisory board.
Gardemeister said the acquisition will strengthen Evac’s role as solutions provider for the cruise industry in times of growing need for waste and waste water solutions: ‘This move will further enhance our total waste management solutions offering to our main customers, both in recycling and recovery, as well as in energy efficient thermal treatment.’
Evac’s coo, Mika Karjalainen, added customers will benefit from the integration between waste and waste water logistics: ‘We can manage all the interfaces and act as a one stop shop system integrator, both in new buildings and in global after sales.’
Deerberg said he was satisfied to have found the right partner to continue his lifetime achievement in the best possible manner. ‘By presenting this total waste management concept to the marine industry, especially the cruise industry, Evac is giving the right answer to the continuous restructuring, optimization and concentration processes of ship operators and European yards. But also with a view to the developing Asian markets, especially China, where Evac already has a strong presence, this merger is happening at the right moment.’
Deerberg-Systems GmbH was established in 1979. During the 1980s and 1990s it evolved into a pioneer company for sustainable waste treatment especially onboard cruise ships.
On several occasions Deerberg initiated and hosted conferences aiming to raise waste management awareness and to exchange knowledge about best-practice solutions.
Most recently, he brought industry decision takers together in Hamburg last July, using the opportunity to present Deerberg-System’s new Multi-Purpose-Waste-Management-Systems (MPWMS) as an approach to increase the recycling share onboard cruise ships.
Deerberg’s total orderbook at the moment comprises 41 waste management systems for various types of ships. Among them are 21 orders for cruise ship waste management systems, corresponding to a 70% market share.
Through the acquisition of Deerberg-Systems GmbH, Evac turns into an integrated supplier of multipurpose waste management system for both solid and liquate waste.
At present, Evac has over 200 employees and maintains direct presence in in Finland, the US, China, Korea, France, Germany, Norway and Brazil.
The company’s total revenue for the financial year 2014 is close to €70m.
The price for Deerberg’s acquisition by Evac Group Oy has not been disclosed.
