Fred Olsen widens range of acceptable 'photo ID' for round UK cruises
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has amended its policy to widen the appeal of an 'Around UK' cruise, to allow passengers onboard that do not necessarily hold a valid passport or photo card driving licence but can produce other acceptable forms of photographic identification at check-in.

These range from Council-issued bus pass/travel cards, a firearms licence or EU national ID card. Anyone producing these will also be allowed to sail on ex-UK cruises visiting UK ports but not including any that call into the Republic of Ireland.

These additional forms of photographic identification meet both Fred. Olsen’s company policy of being able to verify the identity of each guest, and comply fully with the requirements of the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code.

Nathan Philpot, sales and marketing director for Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines: ‘One of our most popular range of cruise holidays is our 'Around UK' voyages, where guests can experience the many delights of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, in a simple, stress-free way.

‘We are now making it even easier for that proportion of the UK population who do not have a passport or photo card driving licence to enjoy our in-depth UK cruise experience, and get the chance to visit UK towns and cities that our smaller-sized ships can access.’

Examples of Fred olsen’s round UK cruises in 2015 include: Boudicca's 11-night ex Dover sailing end April calling at Guernsey, Falmouth, Liverpool, Kirkwall, Rosyth and Newcastle; Boudicca's seven-night ex Rosyth (Edinburgh) cruise on June 21 visiting Kirkwall, Lerwick, Stornoway, Tobermory and Portree, on the Isle of Skye and a 10 day ex Southampton cruise on Balmoral calling Falmouth, Belfast in Northern Ireland, Stornoway, Lerwick, Invergordon and Newcastle.
