Cheque presentation with Hong Kong students on SuperStar Virgo's arrival at Kaohsiung
In a presentation on the arrival of SuperStar Virgo to Kaohsiung Thursday afternoon, Genting Hong Kong donated 1.5m Taiwan new dollars (US$50,000) to the city's Social Affairs Bureau to aid residents affected by the recent gas explosion tragedy.

City officials and the Taiwan Tourism Bureau gave a warm reception to the ship's passengers, including 60 underprivileged Hong Kong students who were selected for the 'Star Cruises’ Dream Voyage to Taiwan.'

On behalf of Genting Hong Kong, Andy Lew, gm of Taiwan for Star Cruises, presented the donation to Kaohsiung Deputy Mayor Lee Yung-Te.

In making his presentation, Lew noted Taiwan is known for its friendliness, a reason why Star Cruises collaborated with the Taiwan Tourism Bureau to organize the charity cruise for the students.

'When the explosion incident happened, we wanted to extend our heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the affected residents and to show our support to Taiwan,' Lew said. 'The port of call at Kaohsiung is meaningful and important for all of us. We sincerely hope that the affected residents can get over the tragedy soon.

'We also wish Kaohsiung will be more prosperous and attract even more international tourists to visit in the near future.'
