Heraklion port, city and tourism stakesholders meet to co-ordinate visitor experience
More than 20 companies and organisations met at the offices of Heraklion Port Authority yesterday at the start of this year’s cruise season.

Representatives including the Region of Crete, the city of Heraklion, local Tourism Organization, Heraklion traffic police, tourism police, the traders association, the chamber of commerce, Union representatives of shipping agents and the association of Professional Guides, amongst others met to focus on ensuring cruise visitors to Heraklion are offered a high level of service and hospitality.

During the meeting the stakeholders were briefed by the president and ceo of Port of Heraklion, John Bras, on actions taken by the Authority to promote cruise tourism this year and 2016  as well as details about its participation at Cruise Shipping Miami 2015.

Bras’ main message, and that of all the speeches, was the success of the city and island as a competitive cruise destination, requires ‘interest from local tourist attractions, upgraded and secure infrastructure, excellent cooperation between the city, the port and tourism/commercial operators in solving practical every day problems and promoting the total visitor experience.’
