Jean-Michel Cousteau to host Paul Gauguin sailings

Jean-Michel Cousteau to host Paul Gauguin sailings
World-renowned oceanographer and environmentalist Jean-Michel Cousteau is scheduled to host four cruises aboard Paul Gauguin in 2016.

Son of the legendary Jacques Cousteau, Jean-Michel has devoted decades to advocating for the oceans and in 1999 he founded the Ocean Futures Society to inspire and educate people around the world to act responsibly for the protection of the oceans.

During voyages on the Gauguin, Cousteau will offer a series of lectures with videos of his work. He also will accompany passengers on several dives.

The designated cruises are 10-night Society Islands and Tuamotus sailings on March 2, June 1 and Sept. 21, 2016, and the 14-night Marquesas, Tuamotus and Society Islands cruise on Nov. 19, 2016.

Also available in 2016 is Cousteau’s Ambassadors of the Environment youth program, which introduces travelers ages 9 to 17 to the natural wonders of French Polynesia through interactive, hands-on experiences with island ecosystems. The program is offered on summer sailings from June through August and on select holiday cruises for a fee of $329-$399 per child, based on itinerary.
