Mixed fortunes for Genoa

Mixed fortunes for Genoa
Genoa’s Stazioni Marittime cruise terminal is set to welcome new ships P&O Cruises’ Oceana (18 fly-cruise turnarounds) and TUI Cruises’ Mein Schiff 1  (2 calls) in 2015, but overall cruise traffic is projected to slightly decrease next year.

After a record 1,050,085 passengers in 2013, Genoa’s Stazioni Marittime is expecting just over 800,000 passengers on around 200 calls this year.

Between January and mid-September 2014, 180 ships have brought around 713,000 passengers to the Ligurian city. Among them P&O’s Ventura which switched to Genoa (from Savona) for its summer 2014 fly cruise season running from late March to October.

Princess Cruises’ Emerald Princess is a visitor this month as is Costa Cruises’ neoRomantica.

Amongst callers next year are MSC Cruises once again using Genoa for turnarounds with 134 calls and 584,300 passengers on numerous vessels, two calls by Celebrity Eclipse,  nine visits by Phoenix Reisen’s Albatros and Pullmantur’s Zenith a six times visitor.
