MSC Armonia set for festivity-filled cruise, post-stretch

MSC Cruises
A 24-meter midsection was inserted earlier this month
MSC Cruises plans special activities for MSC Armonia's first cruise following its extension and upgrade, currently underway at Fincantieri's Palermo shipyard.

The Nov. 19 repositioning voyage, from Genoa to the Canary Islands, will span 10 days with stops at Marseille, Cartagena, Gibraltar, Cadiz, Funchal, Santa Cruz de La Palma and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

MSC Armonia is the first of four MSC ships to be enlarged and enhanced under the €200m 'Renaissance Program.' Earlier this month, a 24-meter midsection was inserted as part of an 11-week docking. The work is scheduled for completion Nov. 17.

The repositioning voyage will feature special in-port entertainment, with dancers and musicians, gifts for passengers and fireworks in Marseille and Tenerife. On-board festivities will include a gala dinner and special theatrical shows.

Throughout the cruise, passengers will have the chance to watch a ‘making of’ documentary that shows the remarkable engineering project involving MSC Armonia, which sister ships MSC Sinfonia, MSC Opera and MSC Lirica will also undergo by November 2015.

After arriving in the Canary Islands, MSC Armonia will begin a series of seven-night cruises to destinations including Morocco.

The 2001-built ship will emerge from drydock with more balcony cabins, more spacious common areas, flexible new dining options and four separate clubs for children, from babies through teens. MSC Armonia will also sport a new water park with interactive jets, slides and other features.
