Douglas Peterson, long-term manager of marketing and sales, is retiring after 22 years with the Nanaimo Port Authority. He has been a principal player in developing the British Columbia port's cruise business.

'He was a key member of the management team over his many years of service when we were so deeply engaged in the forestry-based industry and developing our cruise and short sea shipping strategies,' port president and ceo Bernie Dumas said.

On behalf of the port's board and the port authority staff, Dumas thanked Peterson for his 'professional approach to his day to day work, his long-term commitment to us and to our valued clients.'

Peterson is one of the founding directors of Cruise BC.

He intends to stay in Nanaimo for the foreseeable future and looks forward to traveling with his family.
