New Silversea overland tours, from gorilla-spotting to Galápagos
Eleven new overland adventures of one or more days are among more than 60 extended mid-voyage excursions Silversea Cruises will be offering in 2015.

Destinations include the Andes, Patagonia, Polynesia, New Zealand, Kenya and India. Participants may come face-to-face with a giant tortoise in the Galápagos, track mountain gorillas in Africa or marvel at marine life from the balcony of an over-water bungalow in Polynesia.

'Tsavo East National Park Bush-Walking Safari,' a two-day program round-trip Mombasa, gives participants the possibility to observe lions, cheetahs, serval cats, zebras, elephants and monitor lizards. Two game drives are included. The tour is available during Silver Whisper's March 6 voyage.

'Gorillas in the Forest,' a six-day program that leaves from Cape Town and rejoins the ship at Luanda, takes participants to the Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp. Deep inside Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in southwest Uganda and home to half the world's mountain gorillas, the sanctuary's tented camp provides the base for guided safaris. The tour is available during Silver Whisper's April 5 voyage.

On Silver Whisper's March 6 cruise, the 4.5-day 'Taj Mahal & Jaipur – A Magical Journey to India' departs from Phuket and rejoins the ship at Colombo. Participants will visit the Taj Mahal in Agra and the Pink City of Jaipur.

An 'Over-the-Water Overnight' in Moorea is available on Silver Whisper's Jan. 5 cruise and Silver Spirit's Jan. 22 sailing. Participants stay in the over-water bungalows of Moorea's InterContinental Resort & Spa then rejoin the ship at Papeete.

'New Zealand Explorer' provides four days traveling through the national parks of Mount Cook and Fiordland, both located in the Te Wahipounamu area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Highlights include a ski plane flight to the Tasman Glacier, a cruise on Lake Tasman and a jet boat excursion on the Shotover River. The tour is offered on Silver Spirit's Feb. 12 voyage. Participants depart from Akaroa and rejoin the ship at Milford Sound.

Among the South America offerings are 'The Andes & the Train to the Devil's Nose' and 'Galápagos Adventure,' each five days, and 'Patagonia Express,' three days.

These mid-voyage land programs feature deluxe accommodations, all transportation, transfers, guided sightseeing and some meals. Prices for the 11 new adventures range from $1,899 to $8,999 per person, double occupancy.
