P&O invites Britons to be part of the art onboard Britannia
P&O Cruises is launching a national campaign to discover what or who people believe embodies the spirit of modern Britain. The most popular suggestions received via twitter and Facebook will be incorporated into two unique pieces of artwork to be installed on Britannia which launches in March next year.

P&O Cruises has commissioned renowned British artist Johnny Bull, to produce the two pieces of art which will be unveiled during the celebratory inaugural launch week.

Bull, who is known for his paintings of jazz musicians and for making prints that feature people in various locations, envisages the pieces of artwork as being an assemblage of the nominated subjects in a variety of colours and treatments that reflect the ‘people’ element of the ship.

‘The theme - “the spirit of modern Britain” - should provide us with some fascinating suggestions covering a range of categories such as objects, people, architecture, cultural events, TV programmes, activities and more,’ says Bull.

P&O Cruises is inviting people to send in their suggestions by September 15 in 150 words or less in one of three ways: Twitter - @pandocruises using #britanniaart; Facebook - www.facebook.com/pandocruises or Email: [email protected]

The 50 best suggestions will be put into a draw to win a tour and lunch on board Britannia during the inaugural week.
