Stuart Allison said five of the 18 ships in Princess Cruises' fleet will be in Australia for the 2016/17 season
Princess Cruises will expand its Australia-based fleet for the 2016/17 season with the addition of Emerald Princess, taking its capacity to a record 11,800 berths across five ships.

The 3,082-passenger ship arrives in Sydney on her maiden voyage Down Under on November 15, 2016, and will operate itineraries to New Zealand and the South Pacific until April 2017.

She joins Diamond Princess as a seasonal addition to the fleet, with Dawn Princess, Sea Princess and Sun Princess continuing their year-round operations from Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle.

Princess Cruises vp Australasia Stuart Allison said Australia ranks as the company’s biggest market outside of the United States.

The market has grown steadily since Star Princess was based in Australia for the 2003/04 season.

‘With three ships cruising our waters full time and two visiting megaliners, the 2016/17 season will offer more exciting options for Australian and New Zealand passengers,’ Allison said.

He said all ships will have Australian dollar pricing on board and that full details for the 2016/17 season will be released in March. The new programme goes on sale in April.
