Princess president Swartz sees off Regal maiden voyage

Princess Cruises
All the Regal Princess crew, along with Princess president Jan Swartz, gather to celebrate the ship's debut
Princess Cruises president Jan Swartz was on hand to greet passengers embarking for the maiden voyage of Regal Princess on Tuesday in Venice. The seven-day inaugural sailing will call at Corfu and Mykonos with an overnight in Istanbul.

The sister of 2013's Royal Princess expands the fleet to 18 ships that visit worldwide destinations.

Swartz said passengers aboard Regal Princess will have 'a special experience while enjoying her exciting features including the showpiece atrium, exceptional dining, relaxing Lotus Spa and innovative features like the over-water SeaWalk.'

Two new aspects of the 3,560-berth Regal Princess are an additional aft pool and access to the exterior promenade on Deck 7, enabling passengers to walk the length of the ship.

Throughout the summer, the new vessel will sail on the line's signature 'Grand Mediterranean' cruises, with two itinerary choices. Regal Princess will debut in North America in November, when the traditional naming ceremony will take place, followed by a season of eastern Caribbean cruises.
