Having recently opened a new 1,000sq mtr terminal in Santa Cruz de Tenerife to handle increasing winter calls, Ports of Tenerife is also planning another new cruise facility, opposite the existing cruise berth, which will be operational in time for the 2015-2016 season.

MSC Cruises’ homeporting operation for MSC Armonia’s winter 2014/15 itinerary visiting Canaries, Madeira and Morocco and weekly calls by Thomson Cruises, will be handled at the terminal offering check-in area with five double desks and lounge as well as wheelchair access. Other operators using this terminal for transits include Fred Olsen Cruise Line, Costa Crociere, Windstar Cruises and Hapag Lloyd.

The new terminal under construction will be 8,473sq mtr including a 3,300sq mtr luggage area, 50 check-in desks, lounge, restrooms, gangway, scanners and security arches, Port Police control, a crew internet corner, bus and taxi parking area.

Situated alongside a 395mtr long berth offering 10mtr water depth, the new facility is located opposite the harbour from the existing cruise berth, close to the city centre.

Santa Cruz is the busiest cruise port in the Canary Islands handling over half a million passengers annually.
