Search for Carnival Spirit’s missing crewman is abandoned

Search for Carnival Spirit’s missing crewman is abandoned
The search has been called off for a crew member on Carnival Spirit who failed to arrive at his normal work station in the galley Tuesday.

Carnival Spirit, which was permanently homeported in Sydney in October 2012, sailed on July 3 on a 12-day round cruise to the South Pacific.

The man was reported missing while the ship was sailing between Vanuatu and Fiji.

After an extensive search failed to locate him, a decision was made for Carnival Spirit to retrace her course and search and rescue authorities were notified.

Seatrade Insider understands that search and rescue operations have been suspended and that Carnival Spirit has been released from the search pattern.
