Thai army lifts curfew in key outlying tourist areas but not Bangkok
The curfew in Thailand's key tourist areas including Phuket, Pattaya and Koh Samui has been lifted but a 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. curfew continues in Bangkok, according to a Destination Asia (Thailand) update.

Martial law was imposed on May 20.

Destination Asia (Thailand) said airport transfers are still permitted during the curfew and travelers must present valid travel documents if requested by authorities. Emergency services, including medical, are operational at all times.

The tour operator's nighttime sightseeing programs have resumed normal schedules, and most major nighttime entertainment venues and restaurants are operating until approximately 11 p.m.

Destination Asia (Thailand) reports small pockets of peaceful demonstrations.

'On the whole the military are keeping a low profile on the streets and are not overly visible to the general public,' the tour operator said, adding that travelers will not see 'hordes of soldiers marching around nor will they experience lots of military vehicles driving around the streets.'

Most businesses and offices continue to operate. Shopping malls have resumed normal opening hours, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and the public transport systems continue to operate but on a reduced schedule, 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
