American Queen Steamboat Co. tapped travel veteran William 'Bill' Diebenow as svp sales, succeeding Jeff Drew, who recently retired.

Diebenow will oversee all aspects of agency sales and distribution channels and will lead the regional sales directors.

The company is 'thrilled to have Bill Diebenow join our team for the wealth of experience he brings to our brand,' said president and coo Ted Sykes, who called the new sales chief 'a fixture in the industry and favorite among our travel partners.'

Diebenow joins American Queen Steamboat Co. with more than 20 years of senior sales and marketing experience. Most recently he drove business development as vp with Preferred Hotel Group and Optriant.

Prior to that, Diebenow led High Country Passage and the World Leaders Symposium, creating educational events with personalities including Tom Brokaw, Madeleine Albright and President George H.W. Bush. His background also includes directing sales and marketing for Intrav/Clipper Cruise Line.

'It is an exciting time in the US river cruising industry and I'm humbled to play a role in its growth,' Diebenow said.
