Holland America Line canceled Veendam's current seven-day Canada/New England cruise due to a technical issue with one of the ship's propellers that was identified while in port.

Passengers embarked Saturday in Québec City where the ship stayed overnight and was scheduled to depart at 4 p.m. Sunday. All guest services and safety systems on board were fully operational, the line said.

A HAL spokeswoman told Seatrade Insider specifics on the exact problem and where repairs would take place were still being assessed. It has not been determined if a drydock is needed.

Passengers will receive a full refund of their cruise fare and a future cruise credit of 100% of the fare paid. The line also assisted passengers with travel arrangements home.
