Upgrade included restaurants, entertainment and recreational areas and added a large duty-free shopping venue
SuperStar Libra returned to its Penang, Malaysia homeport after a month-long refurbishment at Sembawang Shipyard in Singapore and Star Cruises announced two special voyages that will visit Yangon, Myanmar.

The pair of six-night voyages will depart Penang for Krabi, Yangon and Phuket on May 26 and Aug. 11. These mark the return of Star Cruises to Yangon after SuperStar Virgo’s first call to the port in 2003. It will be SuperStar Libra’s first visit to Yangon since the ship became Penang-based in 2010.

Excursions offered in Yangon include Myanmar-style dining at House of Memories, visits to Bogyoke Aung San Museum (dedicated to the national independence hero Gen. Aung San) and shopping for precious Burmese gems.

SuperStar Libra will continue offering three-night itineraries from Penang to Phuket and Krabi departing every Sunday. From Wednesday to Saturday, the ship operates one-night get-aways.

The 1988-built SuperStar Libra’s refurbishment included an upgrade of the restaurants, entertainment and recreational venues, and the addition of an upscale duty-free shopping space. The 1,200sq ft retail area will feature China Duty Free (starting in March), upmarket watch and jewellery boutique Canopus and gold specialty shop Eternal Elements. Duty-free merchandise includes designer handbags, perfumes, accessories and fashion items.
