Sembawang secures Princess as a 'Favoured Customer'

Sembawang Shipyard
Sun Princess underwent a retrofit at Sembawang in August
Singapore's Sembawang Shipyard was awarded the upgrading of 115,875gt Diamond Princess and the long-term business of Princess Cruises under parent company Carnival Corp. & plc's Favoured Customer Contract.

Princess svp technical John Gunner said the business springs from the company's satisfaction with the Sun Princess retrofit, completed in August.

'The shipyard’s team has shown dedication and commitment working closely with our team and successfully completing the revitalization work in a timely manner and to a high QHSE standard expected for all Princess dockings,' Gunner added.

Princess will use Sembawang for its future dockings in Singapore. 'We look forward to a good partnership in the years ahead which will enhance the results of our docking and revitalization program,' Gunner said.

Sembawang md PK Ong welcomed the business and thanked Princess for its support and confidence.

Diamond Princess is scheduled to enter Sembawang on March 12.
