The revival of the Asian cruise market, fostering renewed traveller interest in Asia Pacific, the China effect and regional co-operation are highlights of Seatrade Cruise Asia Pacific's conference programme, now published.

Being held at the JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong, October 24-26, 2023, the return of this well-established event, organised by Seatrade Cruise and this year supported by Hong Kong Tourism Board, starts with an opening headline session featuring top international and regional industry leaders in a dialogue on the 'Revival of Asian Cruising.'

'Prospects & Recent Developments for the Resurgence of Cruise in Asia' is a two parter spread over both days and exploring regional trends and insights into the future of cruising in East Asia, and another session on South and Southeast Asia offering the latest updates and outlook on deployment, capacity, calls and source markets in the respective regions.

CLIA's Sustainability Report

Other highlights on October 25 include hearing from Joel Katz, MD CLIA Australasia who will present updates on the latest global sustainability report from CLIA, to discover where Asian sustainability aspirations converge with global standards.

This session is followed by a panel discussion on 'Preserving Asia’s Heritage Through Destination Stewardship.'

The 'Unveiling Hong Kong’s Allure' session features Hong Kong locals and representatives unearthing the recent developments and upgraded attractions that add to the charm of Hong Kong and speak to its visitor appeal for both transit passengers and those embarking or disembarking in this iconic city.

Luxury cruising in Asia Pacific waters

The October 25 programme closes with a focus on luxury cruising in Asian waters.

Day Two opens on the morning of October 26 with a dive into the impact of interwoven international dynamics studying the intricacies of travel, visas, and immigration, and deciphering their resonance on guest satisfaction, product curation, and itinerary planning, whilst advocating for harmonious resolutions.

Welcoming back international cruise guests to Asia and getting Asia back on the map and top-of-mind, for both cruise lines and their passengers, is of key significance for regions across Asia and there will be sessions homing in on these topics .

This goes hand-in-hand with a session on how to effectively market destinations to international travellers and how to meet guests expectations, from local cuisine to history and culture and once in a life time experiences.

The China effect

'The China Effect' is a not-to-be-missed on trend session. With China lifting its outbound group travel restrictions and international cruise ships returning to homeport in mainland China next year, this panel will discuss the prospects for reigniting growth in the China source market, both regionally and further afield.

Another on trend topic, expedition cruising from an Asia Pacific perspective, follows.

The 'Hear From the Itinerary Planners Navigating Tomorrow' session will feature opinions from those at the helm of future itineraries to understand the decision-making process behind current and future deployment plans.
