Celebrity Constellation gets another dose of Solsticizing

Celebrity Constellation gets another dose of Solsticizing
Celebrity Constellation, the first Millennium-class ship to be ‘Solsticized’ in 2010, entered a scheduled drydock for a second round in Celebrity Cruises’ $140m initiative to add Solstice-class features.

Three years ago, Celebrity Constellation gained the specialty restaurant Tuscan Grille, new staterooms, renovated bathrooms, new bedding, new flat-screen televisions, refreshed public spaces and new color schemes throughout. Based on positive customer response, Celebrity chose to add more Solstice-class features to sister ships Celebrity Infinity, Celebrity Millennium and Celebrity Summit as each completed the Solsticizing project.

Now Celebrity Constellation will feature the full complement, too. When the ship re-enters service on May 5, it will have AquaClass accommodations—a total of 107 (37 entirely new, 70 converted from ConciergeClass), with exclusive access to the Mediterranean-themed Blu specialty restaurant and free access to the Persian Garden and Relaxation Room in the AquaSpa.

The ship will gain 66 staterooms overall, with 17 ocean-view and 12 inside rooms on top of the 37 AquaClass accommodations. New verandas will accompany the eight Celebrity Suites.

Celebrity Constellation will also get a Celebrity iLounge, which made Celebrity the first authorized Apple reseller upon introduction on Celebrity Eclipse in 2010, a designation that has evolved into Apple specialist with workstations, classes  and a retail store.

Other new features will be shipwide Wi-Fi, the craft beer experience first introduced in Michael’s Club across the Solstice ships and a new meetings and conference space accommodating up to 208 people in one large room, which also can be divided into two spaces.

All suites and staterooms will receive new mattresses designed for Celebrity by Reverie. Handmade in the US with natural raw materials farmed in a sustainable manner, the mattresses are nearly entirely recyclable and/or biodegradable, and have removable covers that are hypo-allergenic, anti-bacterial and dust mite-resistant. Reverie mattresses in suites can be customed from extra plush to firm by a butler.

Rounding out the Solsticizing initiative will be new color schemes, new carpeting and new upholstery, new sun loungers on the pool decks and an upgraded basketball court.

To tout the refurbishment, Celebrity will launch an online ‘Memory Match’ game from April 20 through May 20 with the opportunity to win a copy of Celebrity’s ‘Excite the Senses’ lifestyle book. Information: www.celebritycruises.com/matchgame.

In addition, the Reverie mattresses are available for purchase with a special offer from May 1 through July 1. Customers who purchase a Reverie Dream mattress through Celebrity during that time will receive a free deluxe adjustable foundation with a retail value of up to $1,800.

Celebrity Constellation will re-enter service May 5, sailing from Miami on a 15-night voyage to Amsterdam to begin seasonal cruises to Scandinavia, Russia and the Baltic.
