First pair of renovated Space-Ships start operations for Scenic Cruises
Scenic Cruises has introduced two of its five Space-Ships that spent the winter being almost completely rebuilt. The revamped Scenic Diamond and Scenic Sapphire have started their 2013 season cruising in Europe.

Owner Glen Moroney has commited to investing $10m to update Scenic’s five existing Space-Ships to match the specifications of its two newest vessels Scenic Crystal (which debuted in 2012) and Scenic Jewel launching later this month.

Following the revamp all that remains of the original ships are walls, ceilings and the ship’s hull. The new casual River Café has been added, Portobellos Restaurant has been upgraded, the main restaurant has enhanced omelet and carver stations and intiimate Table La Rive with degustation menu has been added.

The pair of ships’ cabins have been redone floor to ceiling, including wallpaper, marble desktops and new furnishings, and the company’s distinctive Scenic ‘Sun-Lounge’ has been added. These allow passengers to convert their full-size balcony into an indoor all-weather lounge with the push of a button.

Other accommodations upgrades include 32-inch Samsung HD TVs linked to MiniMac computers for in-cabin email and Internet.
