Fincantieri's Monfalcone shipyard laid the keel for Star Princess in early Decenber 2023. The ship's 2025 delivery will be set back two months
Princess Cruises and Fincantieri mutually agreed to postpone the delivery of 2025's Star Princess.

Both parties elected to adjust the delivery date from July 29 to Sept. 26 following a review of the remaining construction milestones. This means the cancellation of the nine inaugural sailings.

'Despite our collective dedication and relentless pursuit to deliver the ship in late July, it has become evident that additional time is required to ensure the Star Princess is delivered to the highest standards expected by our guests,' Princess President John Padgett said.

New inaugural cruises

The new inaugural cruises will sail round-trip from Barcelona and include an 11-day Mediterranean voyage on Oct. 4, 2025, and a seven-day Mediterranean voyage on Oct. 15 that precede a 14-day trans-Atlantic crossing to Fort Lauderdale on Oct. 22 for the ship's first Caribbean season. These three new cruises will open for sale this month (April 30).

Rebook with credits or cancel for a full refund

Passengers on any of the impacted voyages may instead book any Princess cruise worldwide, including aboard the new Star, sister Sun Princess or any other Love Boat. Those who rebook will receive future cruise and on-board credits. Or passengers may cancel for a full refund.

Princess will protect travel advisor commissions on all bookings that have been paid in full.

The keel for Star Princess was laid in early December at the Monfalcone yard.
